OAKLAND, CA, March 26, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Poets&Quants For Undergrads, the leading news source for undergraduate business education, has released its fourth annual "Best & Brightest Business Majors" feature, which honors 100 of the most accomplished seniors who majored in fields like marketing, accounting, operations, and human resources.
"The best word to describe this year's class would be catalysts," says Jeff Schmitt, Poets&Quants' senior writer who launched the series in 2015. "The Best & Brightest aren't sitting back or fretting over their GPAs. They're getting out in the world, applying what they're learning to take risks and push boundaries. This is a group that's starting businesses, writing books and cases – some are even developing classes and teaching their peers. Now, that's the starting point for these graduates."
This year's Best & Brightest feature mission-driven students like the University of Georgia's Kaylee Ewing. The victim of sexual assault, Ewing has launched BRAVE, a nonprofit designed to empower individuals who've endured life-altering events through grief workshops, self-defense training, and mentoring. Jack Griffin's passion for fighting hunger led him to start FoodFinder, an online platform that has connected 62,000 users with food banks and shelters across the nation.
To compile this year's Best & Brightest students, Poets&Quants reached out to the top 50 undergraduate business schools in 2018. Each school was asked to choose two students for inclusion, with suggested criteria including "academic excellence, extracurricular leadership, personal character, innate potential, striking personal narrative, and overall impact on the program." Ultimately, 48 of these programs nominated students. This includes representatives from every program ranked among the top 15, such as Wharton, Notre Dame, University of Virginia, University of California-Berkeley, University of Michigan, and New York University.
Over the coming months, Best & Brightest will also spotlight the best student responses related to their favorite faculty members, favorite companies, and the biggest lessons they learned from business.
The "Best & Brightest Business Majors" is also the first of a four-part series recognizing the world's top business students. In May, Poets&Quants will unveil its 100 "Best & Brightest MBAs." In June, Poets&Quants For Executives will recognize the "Best & Brightest Executive MBAs" and "Best & Brightest Online MBAs." This fall, P&Q will continue its series on the top incoming full-time MBA students at over 40 top business schools.
