ATLANTA, GA, May 24, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Recently, The Educational Foundation (Foundation) of The Georgia Society of CPAs (GSCPA) hosted golfers at Atlanta National Golf Club in Milton, Ga. for their Annual Golf Tournament. Golfers and attendees spent the day networking and enjoying the beautiful weather while raising approximately $20,000 for scholarships and programming that will assist Georgia college students. This year's tournament continued the record of 95 players in attendance!
Putting and chipping contests kicked off the competition, followed by a standard scramble. The day concluded with a lively 19th hole party at the clubhouse. Afterward, Educational Foundation President, Robert Fields and Educational Foundation Treasurer and Golf Committee Chair, Clay Pilgrim gave announcements and thanked sponsors. Golf Pro, Patrick LaRotonda presented prizes to the top three scoring teams, as well as the two individuals who were closest to the pin and had the longest drive. The day closed with a ball rolling contest where the winner split the pot with the Educational Foundation.
The Foundation Cup, or "tournament within the tournament," allowed sponsors coming in at the Double Eagle, Thirst Quencher, Eagle, 19th Hole, and Birdie sponsor levels to compete for bragging rights and a trophy to display in their office. The Rushton & Company team won the Foundation Cup this year.
The Foundation would like to thank all golfers, attendees, sponsors and supporters!
Many thanks to our volunteers on the day of the event: Stewart Carlin, Scott Collins, Sarah Dismuke, Brad Elmore, Robert Fields, Michael Neese, Miranda Nunn, Paula Sands, Josh Simpson and Ian Waller.
The Foundation, established in 1957, helps students achieve their goals of becoming CPAs by identifying the best and brightest individuals entering the profession and providing those individuals with the help needed to complete their education.

Quote from Tanner Glenn:
"Having been involved with the GSCPA for several years now, I've seen the good that is being done by the Foundation. Our firm, McNair McLemore Middlebrooks & Co, decided to make the trek from Macon to participate in the GSCPA golf tournament this year in support of the Foundation. We had a great time, and it was made even better knowing we were supporting such a great cause."
