VANCOUVER, BC, June 04, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The f-cell+HFC Impulse Summit 2019 welcomed a crowd of 250 engaged industry leaders from 23 countries who came to Vancouver to share advancements, product deployment updates, new collaborations, and discuss solutions in hydrogen production, storage and use and fuel cells which are ramping-up commercial adoption worldwide. The Conference was filled with representatives from product suppliers, researchers, government leaders, investors, auto manufacturers, multi-national companies, as well as truck, bus and port operators.
The event featured three days of presentations with 64 speakers ranging from climate specialists, senior executives from hydrogen production and storage, fuel cell, energy, and platinum providers as well as politicians and end-users who referenced the important role hydrogen and fuel cells will play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions worldwide and the need to grow their mainstream adoption.
The opening plenary given by Dr. Anders Levermann, Professor at the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, highlighted the vulnerability of our climate system. He reminded participants that our generation is "the one that started the sea level rise" and that the "urgency is immediate" otherwise we run the risk of an ecosystem collapse that will result in increasing weather extremes, rising mitigation costs and greater economic damage.
Following the opening plenary were a series of impactful talks that highlighted the progress the hydrogen fuel cell industry has achieved, describing 2019 as the most exciting year for the sector due to the increased commercial penetration of hydrogen energy solutions and fuel cell powered forklifts, buses, cars, trucks, boats and stationary power systems operating in cities around the world.
The Impulse Summit's Trade Fair was a highlight of the event, featuring 22 exhibitors who displayed their advancements and discussed new and old business, while creating and strengthening business contacts. A highlight of the Canadian Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association's exhibit was their new video that focused on the ability of hydrogen to made from renewable sources, making it a fully sustainable energy, as well as the expanding applications for hydrogen and fuel cells, and Canada's pioneering role in these technologies. The video can be viewed on CHFCA's official YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/RxwcGduXq74.
A special highlight of the event included two targeted workshops focused on the use of hydrogen fuel cells in ports and transit bus operations, providing end-users and operators with insights into the no-compromise zero-emission replacement for diesel-fueled equipment. Offering a similar range and refueling time to conventional vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles are proving their durability and business case in deployments in the United States, Europe and China. Interest continues to grow worldwide, with many seeing hydrogen as an indispensable part of the global energy transition.
Conference participants were inspired by advancements and ideas exchanged to further increase the speed of adoption of these technologies. All agreed that hydrogen and fuel cells offer not only a path to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, but they also offer a tremendous economic business opportunity.
The next international event is the f-cell+2019 in Stuttgart, Germany
