"The report is especially important at a time when the public is demanding that brands, companies and organizations act on major social and political issues." - Gloria Feldt
NEW YORK, NY, June 05, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gloria Feldt, co-founder and president of Take The Lead (https://www.taketheleadwomen.com), is featured in "Leading with Purpose in an Age Defined by It, "a new research report from Quartz Insights and WE Worldwide (https://bit.ly/2I0U9Xc). Feldt is a nationally recognized authority on gender equality. The report's findings "unearthed critical insights around the rising economic and social urgency of purpose, and point to actionable steps leaders can adopt to define and sustain a purpose strategy."
"I was eager to participate because the report examines the critical role leading with purpose plays in business and society," says Feldt. "The report is especially important at a time when the public is demanding that brands, companies and organizations act on major social and political issues." Feldt was one of 15 experts across corporations, nonprofits and government organizations interviewed for the report.
One of the report's key conclusions is that purpose in leadership will become more important over the coming year and that business strategy will be more connected than ever to a purpose strategy. Leadership with purpose is one of the founding principles of Take The Lead, whose mission is to prepare, develop, inspire and propel women to take their fair and equal share of leadership in every sector by 2025. Feldt observes that purpose in leadership must be aligned with values to be most effective. "To me, the alignment and the integrity between purpose and values stated, and purpose and values acted on, is probably the main thing. It will always come home to roost if your company is not living those values."
Purpose is Key to Recruiting and Retaining Women
The findings of "Leading with Purpose in an Age Defined by It" are in sync with what matters to women as they choose companies to work with. In a recent blog post (https://bit.ly/2XccHKC), Feldt writes, "I've found over years of leading organizations and the research I've done for books and articles that women value relationships that align with their higher purpose. Though that may vary from woman to woman, most are looking to work with companies that express their own higher purpose or values in their actions. From the companies' design perspective, this may influence the framing of their mission statements or alignment with charitable causes."
Feldt notes that the report "likens leadership driven by purpose to creating a movement that enables others in the organization to share the purpose in a visceral way." This is at the core of Leadership Power Tool #7 – Movement Building – one of nine Leadership Power Tools Feldt speaks about and teaches in her popular workshops and corporate trainings. The report's findings also align with additional Power Tools: Power Tool #1, Know Your History, which allows you to create the future of your choice through self-examination of priorities and purpose; and #2, Define Your Own Terms – First, Before Anyone Else Does, which allows you to name the purpose.
"Leading with Purpose in an Age Defined by It" (https://bit.ly/2I0U9Xc) is 24 pages in length, and available free of charge. Divided into five sections, Feldt's comments can be found in sections two – "Tackling the World's Greatest Challenges with Purpose" and three – "The Qualities of Purpose Leaders."
