The blocks were first described over 100 years ago by Greenfield Sluder for treatment of Scluder's Neuralgia or Pterygopalatine Neuralgia.

It detailed the medical practice of Milton Reder who treated famous patients from around the world only utilizing these magical blocks. Dr Reder was an octagenarian ENT who had been utilizing the blocks for decades even as the majority medical profession was losing this important tool.

JAMA, the Annals of Internal Medicine published an article by Hiram Byrd MD in 1929 on 10,000 blocks in 2000 patients with almost 100% effectiiveness and no negative side effects for a wide variety of eye, ear, nose, sinus,and headache disorders.

Dr Sluder thought this was so important that he wrote a textbook on Nasal Neurology while he was Chair of Otolaryngology at Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis.
