RALEIGH, NC, August 19, 2019 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hardison & Cochran, Attorneys at Law is pleased to extend its partnership with the Autism Society of North Carolina and Carolina Football to promote awareness of the services available to people with autism.
Every year since 2014, one UNC home football game each season has been designated as the Autism Awareness Game. The 2019 Autism Awareness Football Game is scheduled for September 21 with the North Carolina Tar Heels hosting the Appalachian State Mountaineers in Chapel Hill, N.C.
The intent of the Autism Awareness Football Game is to raise awareness of the services available through the Autism Society of North Carolina, an organization that improves the lives of individuals with autism and supports their families. On game day, staff members of the Autism Society of North Carolina will have a tent set up in Tar Heel Town near Kenan Stadium. Staff and volunteers will answer questions and share information about the resources available to those with autism spectrum disorder.
Autism is a common developmental disability that affects thousands of families in North Carolina. One of every 57 eight-year-old schoolchildren in North Carolina may be diagnosed with autism, according to a study by the Centers for Disease Control. The Autism Society of North Carolina estimates that more than 65,000 individuals in North Carolina live with Autism Spectrum Disorder, which describes a group of developmental disabilities affecting a person's capacity to grasp what they see, hear and sense. Autism Spectrum Disorder includes classic autism, Asperger's syndrome, and Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Not Otherwise Specified (PDD-NOS). People with ASD may have difficulties with social, behavioral and communication skills.
In 2014, Hardison & Cochran, Attorneys at Law started sponsoring Carolina Athletics. The attorneys at the Raleigh law firm wanted the sponsorship to highlight more than just the firm's legal services. The law firm partnered with the Autism Society of North Carolina and invited the non-profit group to use the firm's in-game advertising spots available through the sponsorship to promote the programs and services of the Autism Society.
We urge you to join Team Autism NC. Click on the Join the Team page to receive weekly emails during the college football season, with stories, statistics and educational information about autism in North Carolina.
All members of Team Autism NC who are signed up for the weekly email list in 2019 will be entered in a drawing for a Traeger Wood Pellet grill at the end of the season. To be eligible to win, you must be subscribed to the weekly email list at the end of the season. The winner of the grill will be announced at halftime of the ACC Football Championship Game on Dec. 7.
