He completed a residency at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System and is Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry and specialized in child and adolescent care. Dr. Karl Lanocha will also be treating patients out of the new location in Fairfield. He has over thirty years of experience helping patients find relief and recovery from depression. Dr. Lanocha, a true luminary in TMS practice stated, "We are honored to serve the Fairfield area with a unique, patient-centric experience and the most advanced therapies available for those suffering from mental health struggles and clinical depression."
TMS Health Solutions was founded in 2007 by Dr. Richard Bermudes, who sought to develop a group practice that provided innovative, patient-centric care with the focus of an academic research institution to treat clinical depression through TMS treatment. The clinics now also treat other mental conditions using TMS, such as OCD, mild cognitive impairment, memory disorders, and pain management. They additionally offer video appointments/telepsychiatry for patients to connect directly with their psychiatrists from the comfort of home.
TMS Health Solutions has the most experience providing TMS therapy of any outpatient psychiatric medical practice in Northern California. Dr. Bermudes, Founder and Chief Medical Officer, is a nationally recognized leader in TMS and was elected as president of the Clinical TMS Society in 2015, serving for two years. He currently serves on the Board of Directors. Dr. Lanocha, who directs education efforts and will treat patients at the Fairfield clinic, is one of the most published clinicians in the field of TMS and one of the nation's first physicians to use TMS to treat clinical depression.
The treatment of clinical depression isn't a "one-size fits all" and can be monitored through various options, including psychotherapy, medication, and TMS. Each patient is unique, and his or her depression can be addressed through one or a combination of these treatments.
About Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Therapy:
Cleared by the FDA in 2008, TMS is a drug-free, non-invasive therapy for patients who suffer from treatment-resistant depression. It is administered in a physician's office in an outpatient setting. By using an MRI-strength magnetic field to stimulate the prefrontal cortex of the brain, the core symptoms of major depression can be relieved. Unlike antidepressants or Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT), patients undergoing TMS therapy experience minimal side effects.
About TMS Health Solutions:
Headquartered in San Francisco, California, TMS Health Solutions clinics specialize in the delivery of TMS therapy for patients suffering from treatment-resistant depression and other mental health conditions. Additionally, the clinics provide traditional treatment for mood disorders. TMS Health Solutions is led by Dr. Richard Bermudes and Dr. Karl Lanocha, two of the nation's leading experts on using TMS therapy as an innovative treatment for clinical depression.
