In 'Moms of the Missing' journalist and author Steffen Hou investigates ten American abduction cases. Through personal and heartbreaking interviews with the victims the book describes how parents maintain their hopes of one day finding their children—some of whom were taken by a stranger, a family member, or human traffickers. And two survivors tell what it is like to be held captive, tortured and raped, but also how they have restored life after being rescued.
Moms of the Missing describes the principal types of abductions, who the perpetrators are, and—not of least importance—who's most likely to become a victim of the epidemic of missing children. All across America parents are searching for their missing children or—if the worst case scenario has come to pass—the person who killed them.
In the book the parents also share how faith has helped them maintain hope and get through this nightmare despite often suffering from PTSD and other health issues related to the ordeals they are going through.
Finally the book gives recommendations to how parents can keep their children safe and prevent abductions.
About the author:
Steffen Hou (born 1975) is a Danish author and filmmaker, working mainly in America, covering topics such as human trafficking and innocent Americans on death row. Currently he is producing a documentary movie about the white supremacy movement. Moms of the Missing is his third book.
