TORONTO, ON, January 24, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With over twenty years of professional experience in the education sector, Dr. Andreae has established himself as a highly distinguished and esteemed expert in several areas, health, neuroscience, psychology, advocacy and community organization. He has committed a considerable part of his career to studying, supporting and advocating for those with brain issues especially Alzheimer's serving as an insightful and dynamic leader.
Dr. Andreae began his educational journey at York University in Toronto where he earned his bachelor's degree in psychology. Following this he went on attain his Master's in Clinical Social Work from Wilfrid Laurier University. A strong believer in lifelong learning he holds a certificate in neuropsychophysiology from Saybrook University, an advanced diploma in stress management as well as diplomas in nutrition and epilepsy. For his contributions to health care Assumption University awarded him an Honorary Doctorate of Laws (LLD) and the Humber Institute of Applied Technology recently awarded him an honorary degree.
Dr. Andreae's vision, creative thinking, brilliance and passion for education has led him to teach forty five different subjects in university and college and he has a conviction through experience that 'education is not just an intellectual exercise: it is most effective when the head meets the heart and knowledge can be applied to enhance the quality of one's life on all levels, cognitive, psychological, physical, social and spiritual. He is committed to taking a holistic approach to human functioning emphasizing the connection of the body and mind. He is also interested in the link between the brain and enteric (gut) health.
During his exemplary career, Dr. Andreae has accepted multiple awards from academia, government and organizations locally and internationally. Some of the awards he has been honored with include being a recipient of the Distinguished Teaching Award at the University of Waterloo, being selected on two occasions as Faculty of the Year at the University of Guelph Humber and Mentor of the Year which is chosen by graduating students and has received a Global Visionary Award as well as recognized as Professor of the Decade. Dr. Andreae has been the recipient of a Lifetime Achievement Award called the Inaugural Impact Award from Laurentian University.
Dan Andreae is a Founding Fellow of the McLean Hospital Institute of Coaching affiliated with Harvard University and as a result of studying at the Benson Henry Mind Body Institute in Boston was granted membership in the Harvard Medical School Postgraduate Association for Continuing Education.
He has served as the first Executive Director of the Alzheimer Society and later Chair of the Patrons Council and was also the longest serving President of the Ontario Association of Social Workers which recognized him with a Lifetime Achievement Award. He has prominently served with several organizations including the Weizmann Institute of Science, one of the world's leading research institutes, where he was chosen as one of ten leading Canadians and is a Member of the International Board and Special Advisor to the Canadian organization, The Psychology Foundation of Canada where he is Health Advisor and former Vice President, current Patron of Brain Injury Canada and Chair of the Advisory Committee of the National Eating Disorder Center at Toronto Hospital. He also serves on the Governing Board of the Michener Institute, a part of the University Health Network in Toronto. Additionally, he was the Founding Honorary President of the Patrons Council of Neuchatel Junior College, a Canadian school in Switzerland.
Dr. Andreae's research and dedication to advancing understanding of neurodegenerative diseases and the impact on the brain on the rest of the body has made him realize the importance of education around the brain, as well as helping people enhance the quality of life and manage their conditions.
