NORRISTOWN, PA, February 25, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The McKenzie Law Firm, P.C., of Norristown, Pa. has awarded its McKenzie Law Firm Second Chance Scholarship to Kierstyn Cash, a master's student at Arizona State University.
Cash, 24, of Fairfield, CA., has received a $1,000 scholarship to help defer education costs while she pursues her "second chance."
Cash's winning essay titled, "A Clean Slate", detailed an unexpected second chance which came when her husband joined the U.S. Air Force in 2016. His enlistment forced a move 600 miles away from the young couple's comfortable hometown of Las Vegas, NV.
Since then, Cash exceeded her own expectations by finding her professional passion as a therapist who provides Applied Behavior Analysis therapy to individuals with autism. With her only work experience in baby-sitting and the service industry, Cash was very uncertain that she was even qualified for something like this.
Today, Cash is in an online master's program at Arizona State University, studying to become a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Her husband, Jordon Tillman, is a Senior Airman in the Air Force and together they have built a new life of their own.
"My second chance meant stepping out of my comfort zone to discover one of my greatest passions in life, which is making a difference in the lives of individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities," Cash wrote in her essay.
Firm Founder David McKenzie III founded criminal defense firm, McKenzie Law Firm, P.C., in Norristown, PA., after many years as a criminal prosecutor. His firm's foundation is based in the belief everyone deserves fair representation and a second chance. He started the Second Chance Scholarship to help deserving students pursue their second chance.
"Countless people through history have taken advantage of a second chance and gone on to contribute wonderful things in science, business, and the arts,'' firm founder David McKenzie said.
The deadline for the Second Chance Scholarship is Dec. 15.
