"Reveal Gala is a fundraiser yes, but so much more than that - it's a magical evening where people come together and are reminded of our connections as families, children, and parents."
VANCOUVER, BC, February 28, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- For one spectacular night, Rogers Arena was transformed into an inspiring circus-themed fantasy for the annual Reveal Gala, which celebrates and raises critical funds for the Canucks Autism Network (CAN) organization. The 4th annual gala's 500 attendees included families affected by autism, Canucks alumni, local celebrities, and clearly some of Vancouver's top philanthropists as the event raised an amazing total of $1,022,000 for CAN. This year, The Answer Company had the privilege to be the live-auction sponsor, which auctioned items such as paintings, game-worn memorabilia, rare wines, luxury experiences, getaway packages and more.
"Reveal Gala is a fundraiser yes, but so much more than that - it's a magical evening where people come together and are reminded of our connections as families, children, and parents." states our Director of Marketing, Krista Magnusson, "The work that CAN does on a day-to-day basis is so important, from having a child take an entire season of hockey classes to learn to skate and finally feeling truly part of a team, or it taking 2 months of swim lessons to get a child into the pool without tears, but then having them learn to swim so the family can go to the pool together. These are things other families may not even think about, but can make such a difference in a child's life, as well as their parents & siblings."
The Canucks Autism Network was created by Paolo & Clara Aquilini in 2008 with the vision for every individual with autism to be understood, accepted and supported in all community spaces. CAN started as a response to Paolo and Clara's son who was diagnosed with autism and found many barriers to participation in community sports and recreation. Today, CAN has impacted over 5,000 individuals with autism and their families, providing community engagement, recreational programs and employment or training guidance. The funds from the Reveal Gala will directly support the programs provided by CAN throughout the province both for families with children with autism and working with organizations like YVR International Airport & Rogers Arena to create more staff awareness for people & children with autism. This is critically important as currently, 1 in 46 children in BC and 1 in 66 children in Canada are affected by Autism.
Aligning with CAN's new goal of helping people with autism find fulfilling employment, The Answer Company is proud to have several employees with autism as full-time members of the team and looks forward to continuing this tradition. Being involved in the community as a whole has always been an important facet of The Answer Company's values, especially since creating a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program called 'Answering the Call' in 2015. This program provides team members with quarterly days for personal volunteering, quarterly team volunteer days in each office across Canada, and supports various non-profit organizations with sponsorship across the country. The Answer Company has proudly sponsored the Reveal Gala since its inauguration in 2015 and always looks forward to contributing to, and of course attending, this special night.
The night itself was filled with spectacular performances from Grammy award-winning singer Rizo as well as a memorable rendition of "This is Me" sung by members of the CAN music program. Throughout the night guests were dazzled by circus performers & aerial dancers, as well as moved by inspiring speeches from families of CAN participants. Special guest appearances also included Canucks' players Kirk McLean, Cliff Ronning, and Jyyrki Lumme, as well as actor Freddie Highmore who compassionately represents life with autism in his role on "The Good Doctor". Although the Reveal Gala had many dazzling performances and VIP guests, nothing topped the inspiring event's purpose: celebrating and accepting people diagnosed with Autism; something The Answer Company is proud to be a part of.
