Laborde Earles Sends Lunches to Local Hospital Workers

Laborde Earles Injury Lawyers show support for first responders in the Acadiana and Cenla Communities

MARKSVILLE, LA, May 07, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The team at Laborde Earles Injury Lawyers is proud to announce a donation of lunches to local hospital workers in the Acadiana and Cenla region. In addition to the original donation of lunches, the team sent 777 pizzas to hospitals throughout Louisiana as part of the "Pizza Challenge."

"Every year, we try to invest in our local community, and unfortunately, this year, the coronavirus has put an unexpected strain on everyone," said David Laborde, attorney and partner at Laborde Earles Injury Lawyers. "The least we could do is show those fighting on the front lines how much we appreciate the sacrifices that they have made and continue to make."

Battling the Coronavirus as a Community

The COVID-19 outbreak has struck Louisiana harder than many other states. At the time of publication, according to the Louisiana Department of Health, there were 29,340 confirmed coronavirus cases statewide, 1,969 of which proved fatal. Many community members remain either in quarantine or risk their lives as essential workers.

Digger Earles, attorney and partner at Laborde Earles Injury Lawyers, noted that as it is critical to have our neighbors' backs during this challenging time.

"Whether it is ordering a meal for a healthcare worker, or doing something similar for a friend or neighbor that you know has been affected by the virus, we want to encourage all Louisianans to embrace their resilient, selfless spirit," said Earles.

Both Earles and Laborde are born and raised in Louisiana, and the firm has made community involvement a critical piece of their mission. With hope that the community will soon return to some sense of normalcy, the Laborde Earles team feels that it is as important as ever to acknowledge the work that first responders have done.

"The selfless healthcare workers in our community have put their health on the line in service of others," Earles added. "They didn't hesitate when this outbreak emerged, and we are eternally grateful for them."

Involving Local Businesses in Relief Efforts

The donated lunches were made with the help of local businesses, including Grub Burger in Lafayette, Spirits Food & Friends in Alexandria, and Dugout Grill in Bunkie. The pizzas were made by Wildwood Pizza in Alexandria, Mr. Gatti's in Crowley and Eunice, Pizza Shack in Opelousas, Pizza Village in Lafayette, Pizza Shack in Bunkie, Paradise Pizza in New Iberia, Amore Pizzaroma in Abbeville, Buck & Johnny's in Breaux Bridge, and Main Street Pizza Pub & Grill in Ville Platte.

"When we were looking at businesses to donate lunches to our healthcare workers, we wanted to involve restaurants from the local community," said Laborde. "The virus outbreak affects everyone, and we understand that many businesses are having trouble during this time. So, when we thought about who we wanted to work with, we wanted to include businesses that people are comforted by and recognize."

Over 900 healthcare workers were fed with the help of these local restaurants and continue to fight on the frontlines against the spread of the virus.

Hospitals that received donated lunches include CHRISTUS St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, University Hospital & Clinics, Acadia General Hospital, Rapides Regional Medical Center, Bunkie General Hospital, Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center, Acadian Medical Center, Iberia Medical Center, Our Lady of Lourdes Women's & Children's Hospital, St. Martin Hospital, Mercy Regional Medical Center, Opelousas General Health System, Lafayette General, Savoy Medical Center, Avoyelles Hospital, and Abbeville General.

"We're doing what we can to help our community during this time," said David Laborde. "We strongly encourage everyone to support the frontline staff, as well as shop local."
