"I want to able to take their minds off their troubles and worries. Even if it is only for a few minutes through a song". - Mark Regula (Ivory Tower Project)
LONG ISLAND, NY, June 20, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- True artistry is often birthed from pain. Some of the world's most iconic singers, actors, and musicians survived personal tragedies and hardships that were reflected in the art they produced. Creativity is frequently an outlet for those struggling to simply take another breath as the uncertainty of life unfolds. Ivory Tower Project is a testament to the ability to overcome the most devastating of circumstances.
The emotionally-charged pop and rock band was founded in the 1980s featuring singer-songwriter Mark Regula; drummer Sal DiAngelo; and Ivan Elias on bass. Along with lyricist Johnny Jace, the band saw rising success in the New York music scene until tragedy began to strike the group like an anvil. DiAngelo passed away from pneumonia in 1983. Elias died in 1995 and Jace left this world due to cardiac arrest in 2003. As shocking as that sounds, in 2009 Mark Regula was involved in an automobile accident that left him barely able to walk and in chronic pain to this day. These are the types of losses that end music careers and destroy the hopes of even the most optimistic artists, yet Mark continues to battle through.
Ivory Tower Project lives on with multi-instrumentalist Regula working in tandem with close friend Tony Novarro, as a guitarist, recording engineer, and background vocalist.
"I have been blessed in that Tony has invited me to record both our original and cover work together at his home studio in Garden City," says Regula. "We continue to do so at a slow pace, as some days we may have an appointment to record and I simply cannot make it down the steps. He is very patient with me."
The duo has over a dozen songs written for a future release and plans to launch the new project once the COVID pandemic subsides. In the meantime, Ivory Tower Project is re-releasing the single "Burning (Full-Length Remix)" worldwide and being featured on the BlastFM independent radio network.
Despite the group's setbacks the single. "How Much More?" charted No. 1 on the 'Independent Corner' Spring Top 20 Countdown on Cygnus Radio and they were named Artist of the Year for 2018 and 2019 for the same show/station. Ivory Tower Project has also been nominated in multiple categories in the Nashville Universe Awards, The Josie Music Awards, and the Red-Carpet Award Show in Holland (Fair Play Country Music).
Ivory Tower Project is a story of triumph over loss. Through all the pain Mark Regula has endured, it is amazing that his love for others remains strong. "If someone's mind is ever in a bad place," he says, "I want to able to take their minds off their troubles and worries. Even if it is only for a few minutes through a song."
