IRVINGTON, NJ, July 09, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On the heels of a day that has increasingly come under the scrutiny of woke Black America as a nothing to 'celebrate', the Creatives behind Black Girl Beach Day™ add more seasoning to the pot by encouraging Black women everywhere and the people who love them to take to waterfronts near and far, declaring today and these next few weeks leading up to the culminating week of August 22nd as a Black Girl Summer. Scheduled to take place via digital platform Hopin.to on August 22, 2020 and the complimenting in-person version on August 29, 2020 at a TBA New Jersey Beach, Black Girl Beach Day™ looks forward to curating an event that aims to amplify black girl magic and reclaim space for black girls everywhere. Complete with Yogi's, Wellness Experts, Fitness Coaches, Black Women Owned Businesses, DJ's, Performers and Spiritual Healers, those interested in attending should visit blackgirlbeachday.com to subscribe for event updates.
"Black Girl Summer is our declaration to prioritize our enjoyment in addition to our freedom. We have been on the front lines of the fight for justice, and respect, we should also claim the frontlines for recreation. It is joy that sustains our fight and gives us the strength to keep going. So declaring it a Black Girl Summer is a way to stand firm in our solidarity and sisterhood by creating experiences, media and safe spaces especially for us." Germany "Snap" Lancaster, Founder Black Girl Beach Day.
With an ultimate goal to create more space for black women lead and focused festivals, Black Girl Beach Day™ was designed by parent company Wonderground LLC to create space for a more authentic story of women of color while honoring their intrinsic relationship with the ocean. With more recent expressions in popular music like Beyonce's creative citations of West African water deities' black women are rediscovering their love for the heat and the waterfront. Black Girl Beach Day™ serves this community of black women by providing a day where all activities are aimed at promoting sisterhood and intentionally set to affirm space and purpose for women of color.
"As Audre Lorde stated, "self-preservation is an act of political warfare". I believe the answers to our fight for justice and our plight for freedom exist in many forms. Some of them being self-care, amusement and recreation. It's become a mission to create an environment that not only encourages these things, but facilitates them. For black people, it's political to connect in loving, fruitful spaces when so much of our rituals for connection and togetherness have been vilified or exploited. Reclaiming spaces in our honor is a highly political act." Germany "Snap" Lancaster, Founder Black Girl Beach Day.
