She Can Win is changing the face of local politics each and every day. We are breaking this continuous cycle of barriers and getting more women involved and most importantly elected.
PHILADELPHIA, PA, July 24, 2020 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With less than two percent of women of color elected state officials, She Can Win set out with the mission to recruit, educate, and support women who desire leadership roles in the civic space, She Can Win has become a vital nonpartisan organization that leads the political space for women, particularly women of color. The organization has a goal to inspire young girls in future generations to soar and reach their full potential. The vision of She Can Win is to create parity in the political realm. Believing that by providing the necessary resources and training, they are not only encouraging more women, but are placing more women in federal, state, and local elected seats.
She Can Win creates parity in the political realm for women by way of: 1. A nonpartisan training program that educates women interested in running for office and holding leadership on political campaigns, 2. Through investing capital in political campaigns of Women of Color, and 3. Advocating for policies that directly affect women of color through partnering with nonprofits and elected officials to lobby legislation. Since the organization's inception, She Can Win has helped champion, rally, and support nine Pennsylvania state elected officials who are all women of color. In addition, over 600 women have completed training with the organization. With goals to expand their mission and continue to grow across the United States helping women get into elected positions of power where they are meant to be.
"I am thrilled to lead and have founded an organization that is dedicated to the advancement of women, specifically women of color to pursue public office. She Can Win is changing the face of local politics each and everyday. I'm looking forward to the day when parity is achieved in government and we can close our doors, but until that day we will continue to advocate for women in office. Our organization continues to be a staple for women who are needing support running for local, state, and federal government. We are breaking this continuous cycle of barriers and getting more women involved and most importantly elected," says Jasmine Sessoms, Founder of She Can Win.
Amid COVID-19, She Can Win launched a giving circle and their first slate of grants were to Black woman-led organizations who applied for general operating support to address issues of their constituencies.
