After originally graduating in Business Administration, cum laude, from Fontbonne University in 1976, Cynthia was inspired to embark on a career in law following her father, Edward W. Garnholz's footsteps. Cynthia's thriving career as a Legal Attorney has gone from strength to strength since graduating in Law from Washington University in 1980. Cynthia currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis (BAMSL) and was formerly chairperson of its Family Law Section. She is a member of many bar associations and committees ranging from the Missouri Bar Association Probate and Trust Law Committee and Family Law Section to the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
As a Legal Practitioner, Cynthia's main passion is her clients' welfare, especially children, as often family legal disputes such as divorce can be extremely challenging and a stressful time for everyone involved. Consequently, Cynthia decided to become a Domestic Violence Court special prosecutor and a court attorney in adult abuse cases, helping to guarantee that children have safe access to their parents.
