SOUTHFIELD, MI, January 20, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The attorneys at Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C., a personal injury law firm in Michigan, are excited to award their 2020 Disability Scholarship to Benjamin Kurz.
This annual award began in 2014 as a way for the firm to show their commitment to helping students with disabilities achieve their educational goals.
Benjamin Kurz is pursuing a double major in history and mathematics at The College of William & Mary.
Kurz was diagnosed with schizophrenia. It first began when he was in high school and intensified while he was attending Cadet Basic Training at the United States Military Academy. His schizophrenia severely impacted his life and during his Sophomore and Junior years which led to him being brought into a mental hospital in September 2019. Although Kurz's schizophrenia was debilitating at one point in his life, he didn't let that stop him from working hard to achieve his goals.
Once he was officially diagnosed with schizophrenia and given medication, he was able to finally have a clear mind, focus on his career goals, and get back to doing things he enjoys. Currently, he is focused on college with hopes to one day find a way to use data to help locate biological risk factors for psychotic diseases and potentially be able to spare psychotically inclined people from the trauma that he experienced.
Every year, Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. awards one student with the $1,000 Disability Scholarship. The scholarship is available to students of any age, with any type of disability, including but not limited to physical disabilities, medical conditions, mental or psychiatric conditions, speech and language, learning disabilities, behavioral conditions, and all other conditions.
The firm offers four separate academic scholarships annually for students wanting to continue their education.
