SOUTHFIELD, MI, January 20, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The attorneys at Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C., a personal injury firm in Michigan, are excited to award their 2020 Paralegal Scholarship to Grace Collins.
This annual award began in 2018 as a way for the firm to show its commitment to helping paralegal students pursue their certification and ultimate career goals.
Grace Collins is currently enrolled at Johnson County Community College to obtain her Paralegal Certificate. She previously has completed her Associate Degree in Liberal Arts where she focused on Comparative Government. While working on her Associate Degree, Collins volunteered with the Global English Institute and the C.L.E.A.R. Program. The Global English Institute is a program at Johnson County Community College for students who have English as their Second Language. This program paired up native English speakers with ESL students who met on a weekly basis to work on conversational English. The C.L.E.A.R Program provides support for college students with developmental disabilities to help foster a positive college experience. As someone who has mild cerebral palsy, this program was especially meaningful to her and aided in her decision in pursuing a career as a paralegal.
As Collins works towards graduation, she continues to make plans to achieve her academic and career goals. Upon receiving her certification, she plans to work in bankruptcy law. She explained that "bankruptcy law is the most admirable type of law as it helps people gain a fresh start in life. Debt in America is a serious problem and it would make me very happy to help relieve people of their burdens."
However, Collins' career goals don't stop there. As a long-term goal Collins aims to work for an international law firm where she can help those all around the world.
Every year, Buckfire & Buckfire, P.C. awards one student with the $1,000 Paralegal Scholarship. The scholarship is available to students enrolled in a paralegal program within the United States. The firm offers four separate academic scholarships annually for students wanting to continue their education.
