"The creative community is fragile even in the best of times. Work is often freelance with healthcare access solely dependent upon how many hours you can book."
LOS ANGELES, CA, February 23, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Longtime AIDS and HIV charity Entertainment Aid Alliance has unveiled an updated name, new branding, and a broadened mission statement to meet artists' needs during this depression-like economic downturn. The newly named Entertainment + Arts Alliance (EAA) will bring together industry professionals, enthusiasts, and audiences to provide financial and artistic support for those in entertainment and the arts.
While continuing to fund AIDS research and programs, EAA's broadened mission will include assistance for artists across the spectrum facing extreme financial hardship due to the global pandemic. Between April 1 and July 31, 2020, creative occupations saw more than 2.3 million jobs lost, representing an estimated 34.1% of all employment losses. "The creative community is fragile even in the best of times," shared Jordan von Haslow, EAA President. "Work is often freelance with healthcare access solely dependent upon how many hours you can book. Our commitment-- during this very trying moment in history-- is to connect individuals with desperately needed resources, one artist at a time."
To kick-off this new era in EAA history, the organization is launching EAA Green Room. Live-streamed across Facebook, YouTube, and other platforms, the broadcast offers viewers an insider's peek at Hollywood's most significant events while raising money for struggling artists. The series premieres on Monday, March 1 at 6:00 PM PT with a look at the 2021 Golden Globe Awards. Host David Reddish (Entertainment Editor, Queerty) will lead comedian Caitlin Alyn (Laugh Factory, Comedy Store) and Los Angeles' favorite bingo babe Roxy Wood (Supergirl, Shameless) in a hilariously dishy recap of the evening's winners, losers, and backstage gossip.
The EAA was established in 1989 as Video Industry AIDS Action Committee (VIAAC) by a group of home video industry executives dedicated to funding research, treatment services, and prevention programs for HIV and AIDS. Since its founding, the organization has distributed $5.6 million to more than 155 individual beneficiaries nationwide. EAA's Marc Berman Fund continues to provide emergency financial assistance to individuals diagnosed with the AIDS virus.
