HONG KONG, March 23, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Hong Kong-based next-generation vertical and urban farming innovator, Green Tech Farm has confirmed that 20 of its HydroPod advanced hydroponics units are to be deployed to help relief efforts to address the chronic food shortages being suffered by the country's embattled population.
Yemen has been mired in a bitter civil war with regional powers Iran and Saudi Arabia supplying weapons and support to their respective allies in the country, a condition which has made it difficult for foreign aid to make it through to ordinary civilians caught up in the relentless hostilities.
Green Tech Farm, which constructs leading edge its hydroponics units with advanced lighting, heating, cooling, AI-controlled robotics and control systems will supply the HydroPods to UNICEF which is on the ground helping to save lives and mitigate the impact of the conflict on innocent men, women and children.
"The situation in Yemen has grown to become the biggest humanitarian crisis in the world with some 80% of the population in need of some form of aid. Many are malnourished and the black market has pushed food prices beyond the reach of millions of people," explained the Green Tech Farm Chief Technology Officer.
"Our HydroPods' ability to produce several harvests all year round means that significant quantities of food can be produced close to where it will be consumed rather than needing to be flown in from abroad," he continued.
Green Tech Farm confirms it is standing by and ready to send more HydroPod units should they be required.
