"[The SEM program] will contribute significantly to the education of Ugandan students," said Richard Mugagga, Project Coordinator for Divine Initiative.
CENTRAL UGANDA and KINGTON, ENGLAND, April 27, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Divine Initiative donated essential Science, Engineering, and Math (SEM) equipment, valued at $150,000 to 50 rural secondary and technical schools in Central Uganda in the months leading to February 2021.
Prior to their donation, Divine Initiative discovered that over 71% of Ugandan children lacked the equipment needed for their education, with students scoring well below average in the Uganda Certificate of Examination (UCE). Girls between the ages of 15 and 18 especially struggled due to lacking equipment. Parents were often forced to make an impossible choice between renting equipment or buying food for their families. The school supplies were distributed to help Ugandan students thrive in their creative and innovative pursuits, and provided the needed relief to their families.
"The SEM equipment helped me practice for my final exam," said Namata Paska, a 17-year old senior student from Luweero Secondary School. "I'm incredibly grateful for the program."
Divine Initiative prides itself on improving the lives of children and community members. Since its inception, it has helped over 100 communities and 3,000 children elevate their living standards. Their programs rely on generous donations to fund efforts like the SEM equipment program, which helped increase students' average exam scores from 40% to 60%.
"The program will help reduce the inability of students to use science equipment for practical lessons," said Richard Mugagga, Project Coordinator for Divine Initiative. "This will contribute significantly to the education of Ugandan students."
