This project meant a lot to me because it gave me the opportunity to paint the experience of my life, and others like me who don't look like me! -Re@l-Recording Artist-Haven Studios Mentee
CHICAGO, IL, May 01, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Humanity is the Genre is an upcoming compilation project scheduled to be released on April 30th, 2021. It will feature an eclectic selection of artists, exploring different styles and paving the way to a solid musical identity, which is diverse yet united.
"Humanity is the Genre" casts the universal language of music in a new light, embracing and celebrating unity in the diverse sounds, lyrics, and influences of its artists and producers. In our fragmented, divided society, this is just what the doctor ordered: a project that celebrates beauty in differences and joyfully juxtaposes musical styles to draw attention to the underlying shared human experience. This compilation is a dazzling pastiche of creative collaboration whose only shared allegiance is to a resounding message of hope and faith in the human condition.
"It has been a joy to see the rich creative energies of our Columbia College Chicago students working together with such an impressive roster of talented professional artists, donating their time, energy, and musical expression in the service of a worthy cause."- Ben Sutherland Chair, Department of Audio Arts and Acoustics
This compilation release features nine amazing artists. These artists have one common goal: promoting unity while supporting Guitars Over Guns' community-based recording studio, Haven Studios. Located in the Bronzeville neighborhood on Chicago's South side, Haven Studios is led by Add-2, a Chicago-based emcee who is also trained in mentoring best practices. Since opening its doors in 2016, Haven Studios has provided valuable resources, leadership, and guidance to nearly 400 youth.
"At Guitars Over Guns, we believe musicians from all walks of life have the power to communicate, heal, and inspire us to be the best version of ourselves. We're blessed to have mentees Re@L, C.A.M., and F.A.B.L.E working alongside Add-2 -- the Director of our Haven Studio -- to represent our city and remind listeners that humanity truly is the genre."- Andrew DeMuro Regional Director-Guitar over Guns.
The label, Electric Train Records, was just selected as one of the 31 Black owned record labels to take part in a fellowship created by A2IM (Association of Independent Music) to support Black owned labels with networking and resource opportunities that weren't as available pre pandemic.
Art is a force for good, and the nine bands involved in this amazing compilation project were able to recognize that. These artists are tired of experiencing all the divisiveness and social injustice in light of the tragic and disturbing events that happened last summer. This compilation advocates equality and freedom, and it's all about spreading hope for all people.
"This project meant a lot to me because it gave me the opportunity to paint the experience of my life, and others like me who don't look like me! Humanity is the genre and to be a voice for the voiceless is truly an honor."- Re@l- Recording Artist, Haven Studios mentee
This release is a perfect example of how people of all races and walks of life can come together for a good cause. The artists are Blaqrock, Re@L, Margot Liotta, Janet Blackwell, ADD-2 the M.C, Maybe April, Yin Waster, Emma Young, and the Complex Project.
The compilation is going to be released by Electric Train Records and distributed through The Orchard / Sony. Proceeds will be donated to Haven Studios in Chicago, IL, through Guitars Over Guns.
