Chesapeake Attorney Bill O'Mara Donates $2,500 to Indian River High School

Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers partner Bill O'Mara makes donation

NORFOLK, VA, June 04, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Indian River High School in Chesapeake holds a special place in the heart of Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers partner Bill O'Mara.

O'Mara is an Indian River High School graduate. He returned to the Home of the Braves recently to make a donation of $2,500 from the Norfolk-based personal injury law firm to Principal Naomi Dunbar.

"I'm a proud Class of 2000 graduate of Indian River High School," O'Mara stated during the check presentation. "My wife graduated from Indian River High School, my siblings graduated from Indian River High School, and my father substitute teaches here from time to time. The school holds a special place in my heart, my family's heart, so we're happy to contribute. It's been a challenging year, I'm sure, for the school."

Principal Dunbar has led the administration team at Indian River High School for over seven years. She thanked Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers for the donation.

"This has been a challenging year. We will certainly put the $2,500 to great use for instructional materials and things we can use to support our students and staff. We will continue, hopefully, with this partnership," she remarked.

Dunbar thanked O'Mara for being a Brave. "I am a Brave for life as well. I have been in the community now for 21 years. Truly, this is a wonderful place," she said.

O'Mara and his family have deep ties to Chesapeake. After graduating from Dartmouth College and Washington and Lee University Law School, Bill moved back to his hometown of Chesapeake in 2008. He later joined Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers as an associate attorney and became a partner in 2017, and he dedicates his entire practice to helping injured people.

Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers makes donations to many great causes in the Hampton Roads community and beyond every year through Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers Cares. The outreach and charitable initiative focuses on supporting the education and development of young people.

Earlier this year, the personal injury law firm donated $500 to Nansemond River High School in Suffolk to purchase vital safety equipment that will help keep students and staff safe as they return to classrooms. The donation allowed staff at the school in Suffolk to buy sanitizer dispensers and refills.

Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers also recently donated $5,000 (the equivalent of 12,500 meals) to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore, which helped young people receive the food they needed to thrive and progress during the pandemic.

Many of the firm's donations, sponsorships, and campaigns focus on the importance of education in the Tidewater community and helping young people reach their goals. Numerous studies have found the pandemic has disproportionately impacted younger people and affected their mental health. As well as helping youth during the pandemic, Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers assists students by offering $2,000 awards to local graduating high school seniors via its Focused Driver Scholarship Program.

The firm launched the Cooper Hurley Injury Lawyers Cares initiative in 2019 and has committed the majority of its donations to schools and organizations that support education and uplift students in the Hampton Roads area.
