    LOS ANGELES, CA, June 14, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Gyeonggi-do and S.Korea Army hosted the 2021 Conference for the Development of Dronebot and AI for Combat. The conference organized by Gyeonggido Business & Science Accelerator(GBSA) and Korea Army Training & Doctrine Command was opened for two days, from the 7th to 8th of June at an international conference room in Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy & Innovation.

The event was held to promote cooperation between the province and the Army to boost the Army's advancement along the way of its ambitious change to become "the military equipped with cutting-edge science and technology".

The business agreement ceremony and opening ceremony was held on the first day of the event. The business agreement is to ramp up collaboration in dronebot and AI fields between Gyeonggi-do and South Korea Army. Lee Kwang-hyung, the President of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology(KAIST) gave a keynote lecture on the theme of "The role of Army in AI era" for the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony was followed by two sessions which addressed "The direction of development of dronebot combat system" and "Ways to develop standardization of manned-unmanned hybrid combat system". Officials from the military, industries, universities and research institutes delivered their speech and participated in debates on the themes.

Sessions related to the direction of development of AI technology for national defense were held on the second day of the event. The theme of the day includes "Development of global multi-target tracking and event prediction techniques based on real-time large-scale video analysis" and "Current status of the Army's AI capacity development".

Gyeonggi-do and the Army forged a partnership to employ dronebots and AI technologies for innovation and growth of companies in the province and development of science and technology capacity of the Army.

Gyeonggi-do Governor Lee Jae-myung said "the most important thing for running a country is protecting the country and its community from attacks such as wars, disasters, diseases and terrorist attacks. National Defense is the top priority" adding "Military must meet the call of thls era, making itself smarter and stronger. And I believe the key for the task is ensuring cutting-edge levels for weapons system and military equipment".

The Governor also said "In thls regard, thls agreement is a great opportunity which will significantly contribute to strengthening of the military's security capacity and boost technological development of the private sector".

Governor Lee also added "I have been thinking for a long time that it would be great if the military system is improved not in a way that men and women in uniform have to just lose their time and sacrifice for the country but in a way that they can develop their capacity and are supported for their future career. I hope the agreement would make the military's weapons system more advanced as well as give new opportunity to the youth who serve the country".
