Jon R. For example, one of his clients, a father of two boys, asked for the court to order his two children to move back to Texas after their 3-year residence in another state resulting when their mother legally moved them away. After numerous hearings and a lengthy final trial involving thousands of pages of exhibits and numerous witnesses, the judge ruled in his client's favor and ordered the return of the boys to DFW, despite mom and step-dad and the boys having lived in the other state at that point for almost three years. That was a very unusual result, given the length of time the children had resided out of state, and was therefore a very significant victory.

In another case, Jon R. Boyd inherited this case from another lawyer after it had been dormant for quite awhile. His client, the mother, had lost temporary custody during the pendency of the case. A social study had been done and recommended no changes to the current schedule. The father had the upper hand because of the violent reactions of the client's new husband to the father's seemingly "innocent" conduct. However, Jon R. Boyd showed that the father had been engaging in very bizarre and harassing behavior toward his client and her new husband. He convinced the judge that the mother should have primary custody and that father's visitation should be supervised until he took and passed a psychological evaluation.
