Trinity School of Medicine to Host Open House

    WARNER ROBINS, GA, June 30, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Trinity School of Medicine is set to host an open house for prospective students at their Warner Robins Clinical Facilities location on Saturday, July 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. Trinity's clinical facilities are located a block from the Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins, Georgia at 233 N. Houston Road, Suite 310. All attendees of the open house event will receive the Southeastern Attendance Scholarship, a $1,000 credit towards tuition that will be applied upon acceptance to Trinity School of Medicine.

Prospective students are invited to attend this long-awaited informational event, where they will have the opportunity to interact with current students, alumni, admissions counselors, and Dr. Frances Purcell, Dean of the Trinity School of Medicine.

As recently reported by U.S. News, the country is currently experiencing a widespread physician shortage, due in part to the large number of doctors reaching retirement age. Earlier this year, the Savannah Morning News published a piece on the physician shortage in rural Georgia, specifically.

According to the Georgia Board of Health Care Workforce, 60 of Georgia's 159 counties have no pediatrician, 76 counties have no obstetrician or gynecologist, 18 counties have no physicians practicing family medicine, 74 counties have no general surgeons, and 9 counties in Georgia have no doctor at all.

While U.S. medical schools are expanding capacity, there are still too few slots available to train the number of physicians needed, especially for residents of rural communities. Over 60% of medical school applicants are turned away each year by U.S. medical schools. Even the most qualified individuals can be rejected, leaving them feeling defeated and worried for their future and the future of their community.

By recruiting students in the medically underserved southeastern region, Trinity School of Medicine is working to be part of the solution. After spending 16 months abroad at our Caribbean campus in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (4-Terms out of 10), students then complete the remainder of their medical education at our U.S. clinical facilities in Warner Robins, Georgia (6-Terms out of 10). Completing the second half of their doctor of medicine degree at this location allows students the benefit of residing in one location while completing all core rotations. Students also have the added benefit of saving money due to the area's low cost of living with high-quality apartments and ease of transportation. Trinity's clinical program is the best of any international medical school with a US clinical program. You will be provided with the lowest preceptor to student ratio during rotations. Our hospital system partner has provided dedicated study space and break rooms right by the hospital and another dedicated 7,000 sq. ft. learning center provided on their hospital pavilion campus, one block from the hospital. These facilities are second to none and offer a US medical school experience better than most DO medical schools, who often require students to travel to various locations to get their core rotations, creating additional costs and hassles for students.

Trinity School of Medicine is for students who value personal attention and faculty support within a smaller, more focused learning environment. From the very first month in basic sciences, students are engaged in hands-on clinical experience at Milton Cato Memorial Hospital in St. Vincent.
