Dr. Pamela Gurley Set To Read Her New Children's Series, Brown Girl And Brown Boy, At Barnes & Noble's Storytime

    LOS ANGELES, CA, July 06, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Dr. Pamela Gurley will be reading her new children's series, Brown Girl and Brown Boy at Barnes & Noble at The Grove in Los Angeles. This event will be on Wednesday, July 14th, 2021 and held on the lawn by The Barnes & Noble. Guests are welcome to join starting at 10:15 am and are encouraged to RSVP prior to the event. Kids, parents, and young adults are more than welcome to join the fun! The books featured during this event will be available for purchase at the Barnes & Noble register stand after storytime.

Dr. Gurley will be reading her first two books, Brown GIRL, Be Social and Brown BOY, Be Social. The Brown GIRL and Brown BOY series aims to guide children through some of the greatest challenges they are facing today. The goal of the series is to teach kids social skills, confidence, self-worth, and body positivity. For many children of color, the sight of similar faces and representation in books is crucial to their mental, emotional, and physical development. The collection will include three special edition books that highlight black and brown children with down syndrome, autism, and other physical and mental disabilities. Additionally, attendees will also get a chance to preview her latest book to the series, Brown GIRL, Break Barriers, which will be available on September 3, 2021.

Dr. Pamela Gurley is a retired United States Army Veteran with a Bachelor's in Psychology, a Master's in Health Service Administration, and a Doctorate in Management. As the CEO and founder of numerous companies like Clark and Hill Enterprise, she carries the values of empowerment, motivation and advocacy through her businesses, media platforms, creative writings, and speaking engagements. As a woman of color, Dr. Gurley also believes in the importance of representation, which is a significant element in the Brown GIRL and Brown BOY series. Her inspiration for creating this series is based on understanding the importance for children to identify with characters that help aid in growth and in well being.
