Some of the most important parts of the website design project were incorporating different tools to assist those different audiences. For example, by incorporating GIS Planning data, the GEDC team no longer has to manually research and upload data, and site selectors can easily create reports, compare/contrast the Giddings community with others, and see the region's growth over time. "Golden Shovel filled the qualitative gap by developing a place-based narrative that helped generate positive feelings about the city to assist with business attraction and recruitment," said Tonya Britton, Executive Director at GEDC. "This qualitative information helped fill in where the data fell short."

The website also serves as a tool that the GEDC can use to inform the public about existing projects, especially high-growth areas and incoming businesses. Local businesses seeking to recruit new employees or expand their own businesses benefit from that same quantitative data and qualitative narrative.

In addition, another large part of the GEDC services is working with entrepreneurs and new business owners seeking to launch a business. To streamline the process, the team incorporated a Business Investment Assistant tool by LocalIntel into the website that provides everything an entrepreneur might need.
