"We didn't know that we would win it, but it's awesome that we did because for us, it's really just doing what we love to do!" says Glenn, founder of Rock Your Month.
CAMP HILL, PA, August 04, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Detroit-based and veteran-owned feminine hygiene company Rock Your Month proudly provides easier access to period care products in underserved communities in Detroit and beyond. Proprietor and Airman JM Glenn also educates women and men, specifically single dads, helping to remove the stigma around periods and feminine healthcare. Her subscription-based business relies on its website, which was recently revamped thanks to a $5,000 grant from Camp Hill web design agency, CourseVector.
"It looks really good. I like that it's cool and interactive. And it's pretty user friendly," Destiny, a Rock Your Month customer, shares reactions on the new Rock Your Month website.
Glenn, founder of Rock Your Month, is an entrepreneur, service-member, and mother of four. After 15 years and several deployments with the United States Air Force, Glenn saw a need for easier access to period care. This need is evident during deployments, where choices are extremely limited, but it also became evident that some groups of young girls, homeless women, and others without transportation stateside also needed easier access to education and feminine care products. Her website provides the convenience of feminine care essentials shipped monthly in "one rockin' box". No more forgetting, no more hassles, no more store runs. Just period care made easy, including to those women who need it most.
Rock Your Month started small in 2018. As Glenn balanced military life, motherhood, and starting a business, she chose a do-it-yourself website solution. Glenn worked hard to build the site, subscription boxes, and customer service while getting her name out there. As a member of Advantage Business Network, Glenn was eligible for the Better Communities Award and thought applying would help to further her mission. Rock Your Month won the Better Communities Award in November of 2020.
"We didn't know that we would win it, but it's awesome that we did because for us, it's really just doing what we love to do! Our outreach programs have included reaching out to young mothers' groups here in Detroit," says Glenn. They have also sponsored product drives for women in Detroit.
CourseVector, a veteran-owned-and-operated web hosting, web design, and digital marketing company based near Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, partnered with Darren Brown, owner of Advantage Business Network, on providing the Better Communities Award. The money was allocated to a small-business owner with a passion for helping their community. Rock Your Month was afforded the opportunity to revamp their website, allowing Glenn more control over the growth and visibility of the site.
"They were able to get everything that was in my mind out and onto the canvas of the internet," Glenn said.
Jennifer Mariani, CourseVector's COO & managing partner, reminds entrepreneurs to align with people that excel in the things at which they are weaker. For example, if you are not strong in website design, find a web designer.
"Partnering with people and other professionals that you can trust is huge," comments Mariani. "We are happy when we are able to partner with like-minded entrepreneurs who are passionate about making better communities for themselves and their neighbors."
