Luca Iallonardi Wins Cohen & Jaffe Community Volunteer Scholarship

NEW HYDE PARK, NY, September 03, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Cohen & Jaffe Community Volunteer Scholarship was created to highlight the efforts of a key figure who brings service and leadership to their community. With Luca Iallonardi, the New York-based law firm found the perfect winner for its $2,500 award.

Mr. Iallonardi, who will be attending Brown University this fall, credits much of his volunteer work to his brother, Jackson, who has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. "Jackson might not understand a movie [or similar activities]," Iallonardi said in an interview, "but he would still enjoy the experience of being out and doing something." This is precisely what the Nassau Suffolk Autism Society of America (NSASA), where Iallonardi and his family volunteer, provides.

The organization will rent out movie theaters for its members and their families, organize trips to nearby waterparks, and develop other social and recreational activities that don't overstimulate those with autism. Of course, such activities are not always cheap, and fundraising can be difficult. That's where Luca Iallonardi's greatest volunteer contribution comes into play.

Though he usually is not one for biking, Iallonardi was inspired by his father to join in the Bike to the Beach fundraiser. He trained for months for the grueling 100-mile bike ride, eventually completing the challenge and raising over $8,000 for NSASA.

In an interview with Iallonardi, he expressed his desire to continue performing the 100-mile biking feat for the foreseeable future, no doubt raising thousands for the crucial work of NSASA. In the meantime, he will pursue his studies at Brown, where he plans to major in music.

"Usually, you would have a very specific [concentration] like Music Performance," said Iallonardi. "But for Brown, it's different." Instead, he will be able to select the different courses that best fit his "track" or plans for the future, which will no doubt include volunteer work to benefit all the communities in which he becomes involved.

A personal injury law firm based in New Hyde Park, New York, the Law Office of Cohen & Jaffe has assisted clients through injuries, workplace accidents, wrongful death claims, and more.
