Vara Winery & Distillery Partners with Speakeasy Co.

    ALBUQUERQUE, NM, September 03, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Since the pandemic began, Vara Winery & Distillery, located in Albuquerque New Mexico, has produced and released multiple award-winning spirits, many of whom have not been tasted outside of the state. A partnership with Speakeasy Co., a leading e-commerce and fulfillment platform servicing the beverage alcohol industry, enables brands to sell directly to consumers from their respective websites without disrupting the three-tier system, empowering partners to own their destiny.

Vara Spirits' new offerings build on the successful lineage of Vara's Fine Spanish Wines.

Vara is a craft distillery and winery in Albuquerque, New Mexico founded by Xavier Zamarripa and Doug Diefenthaler with a desire to acknowledge, embrace and celebrate the historic wine and spirits contributions of Spain to the development of the New World in particular the area that is now known as New Mexico.

We produce our spirits using an authentic 1000-liter copper alquitara (pot still) from Hoga Stills of Spain. First inspired by the traditional brandies of Spain we have set our sights on producing an American brandy in the traditional styles of solera aged Brandy de Jerez.

From there our respect leads us to the Spanish influence on the rum production throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. Then we share Spain's great fondness of gin, the second most consumed spirit in Spain after brandy, and we are glad we did… don't forget the Vermut!

While Vara's passion for fine distilled spirits is rooted in Spain, our home and heart are firmly planted in America. When a fortuitous meeting brought Scott Feuille to our door, we learned of his passion for craft spirit distillation, particularly classic American spirits. Herein Vara secured a head distiller, and a partnership with Taylor Garrett Whiskey was born.

Vara's commitment to life's pleasurable essentials and excellence in production are self-evident with every taste of our fine spirits:

Paso Uno Brandy - New Mexico wines made from grapes harvested at numerous New Mexico Vineyards were distilled in a 1,000 liter traditional Spanish copper alquitara (pot still). Colorless, clean and clear. The nose shows essence of pears and flowers. On the palate flavors of white plums, pears, roses and lilies with a rich mouth-filling viscosity.This brandy is medium-bodied and lingers pleasantly through its clean finish.

Fine Alembic Brandy - Distilled from American wines that are placed in our 1,000 liter copper alquitara from Hoga Stills of Spain. To finish this brandy it spends another 4-6 months in Spanish Sherry casks before being lightly filtered and then brought to its final 40% ABV (80 proof) strength and bottled. Our Fine Alembic Brandy shows colors of yellow straw gold and is vibrantly clear. Light apple and pear fruit with honeycomb and sandalwood spice on the nose. The profile is light on the palate showing bright flavors of honeyed toast and vanilla. The brandy finishes memorably with some lingering sweet smoke.

Fine Spanish Brandy - Distilled in Jerez del Frontera Spain from local wines placed in copper pot stills. This spirit is then brought to a barrel aging strength of 62.5% ABV before being placed into a classic solera system of Spanish Sherry casks for rotations of over three years before being imported to our distillery. To finish this brandy it spends another 4-6 months in Spanish Sherry casks in our cellar before being lightly filtered and then brought to its final 40% ABV (80 proof) strength and bottled.

Rum Blanco - Produced from first press light cane molasses and artisanally distilled to ensure balanced rich rum flavors. Very clean fresh bright aromas expressing classic rum qualities. On the nose hints of almonds, vanilla, sugar cane, Asian pear and subtle floral scents. Silky mouthfeel with flavors that confirm the aromatics. Spicy finish.

Rum Añejo - Produced from the meticulous process of refining a rich and balanced dark molasses. Artisanal distilling ensures an exacting rum spirit that appreciates our proprietary aging process.The elevated spirit in the Añejo Rum is very well incorporated and not the slightest bit aggressive. Aromas of caramelized sugar and vanilla.

High Desert Gin - Our double gold award-winning artisanal gin is handcrafted from a proprietary recipe. It begins with the highest quality grape spirit and carefully selected botanicals including Juniper, Coriander Seed, Sage, Angelica Root, Nutmeg, Star Anise, Cardamom, and Citrus. This gin is elegant, balanced and exceedingly refreshing.

Taylor Garrett Whiskey - Vara's passion for fine distilled spirits is rooted in Spain, but our home and heart are firmly planted in America. An uncommonly smooth spirit, our American Whiskey is deep amber in color, showing strong notes of vanilla, caramel and a touch of smoke leading to a spicy rye finish. Unfiltered with no additives. Our handcrafted whiskey uses breakthrough oak aging technology unlike traditionally aged whiskies that take years to each maturity in oak barrels. The result rivals even the best aged whiskey flavor profiles.

Taylor Garrett Rye - Taylor Garrett Rye is the bold and rugged sibling of our original Taylor Garrett Whis- key. Using time-honored distilling techniques paired with our innovative, all-natural oak aging process, we've switched up the mash bill to put the spotlight on the spice. Unfiltered with no additives. A strong nose of vanilla and toasted maple prepare the palate for a hint of sweetness that gives way to the complex spiciness that Rye lovers have come to expect. The exceptionally smooth finish lingers pleasantly in anticipation of the next sip.

Canteen Imperial Malt Whiskey - Canteen Brewhouse, one of Albuquerque's longest-standing craft breweries, has partnered with us to present the Taylor Garrett Canteen Imperial Malt. Taylor Garrett's first all-malt whiskey is a powerhouse that showcases the profiles of six unique malted barleys.Non-chill filtered with no additives. The nose reflects its imperial stout origin; strong notes of toffee, nut brittle, roasted malt. Slight sweetness on the palate yields to coffee, cocoa & rich malt.
