"I think that the problem of distracted driving is getting consistently worse."
NEW ORLEANS, LA, October 05, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- As personal injury attorneys, the lawyers at Morris Bart Attorneys at Law have seen firsthand the damage that distracted driving can wreak. As part of the firm's initiative to prevent injury and improve local communities, it offers a $2,500 scholarship to a student who develops an interesting, persuasive PSA against distracted driving.
This year's winner of the Morris Bart Anti-Distracted Driving Scholarship is Jessie Morgan. Her winning video entry features Morgan in her car performing a series of tasks that are obviously (and hilariously) unsuited for driving. She feeds her cat, prepares the ingredients for a cake, and more. The point of the video is that texting while driving is just as ridiculous and dangerous as those other activities.
When asked in an interview about her purpose behind the PSA, Morgan responded with a warning for her generation. "I think that the problem of distracted driving is getting consistently worse," she said.
However, Morgan also had some tips to help drivers stay focused. Keeping your phone off or out of reach can help, such as putting the phone in the backseat. "Discipline is an important part of forming any healthy habit," she said.
Jessie Morgan attends Messiah University, where she currently studies Communications with a minor in Marketing. She also spends time touring with her school's worship band. Her dream job, she says, is traveling with a service or missions organization across the Atlantic Ocean.
