LOS ANGELES, CA, November 18, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Throughout the year, Hinduism celebrates many unique and grand festivals and observances that raise the collective consciousness of humanity. One of them is Karthigai Deepam, a ten-day celebration, originated in the town of Tiruvannamalai, India, the sacred birthplace of The Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism, His Divine Holiness Bhagavan Nithyananda Paramashivam, and this year it commences on November 18th at 5:00 pm ET as per the Vedic Calendar. This auspicious celebration is very significant for Hindus, especially for Shaivites who mainly worship Lord Paramashiva.
Karthigai Deepam dates back to at least 8,000 years, making it the oldest recorded festival in history. It is the celebration of One becoming Many and merging back into Oneness.
Karthigai Deepam is the day Lord Paramashiva appeared as an Eternal Light Beam - the Jyotir Stamba - to enlighten Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu. This is also the day when pleased with Devi's penance of Panchaagni tapas to become One with Lord Paramashiva, Lord Paramashiva bestowed enlightenment to Devi Parashakti, the ultimate divine Feminine Consciousness. The Supreme Pontiff of Hinduism revealed the profound significance of this day on November 14, 2018:
"Three major things have happened on this auspicious day. 1- The timeless Paramashiva decided to become many to celebrate Himself on this very day. The time started from the timelessness, from Kartigai Deepam, that is the time the Big Bang happened. 2- When He manifested as Brahma, Vishnu and Andavas and Brahma and Vishnu had little difficulty about who is greater, He appeared as a light shaft and gave them enlightenment. And the 3- Then Devi Parvati wanted to become part of Paramashiva, the oneness space and doing tapas for it, Paramashiva granted Parashakti the ultimate space of oneness forever on this very Karthigai Purnima, Karthigai Deepam day." On the tenth day of the celebration, a great flame is lit inside the Arunachaleswarar Temple following a grand fire ritual offered to be lit atop the sacred Arunachala Hill. Karthigai Deepam auspiciously lands on a full moon night. Approaching the grand ritual, a deepa mandapam (pillar of light) is installed facing Arunachala hill. As per tradition, a massive deepam, a copper cauldron filled with ghee, is prepared to be lit around sunset at 6 pm local time. A fire torch is lit from 5 lamps (signifying Lord Paramashiva manifesting as the five elements and becoming one) and taken to the sacred Arunachala hilltop to light the flame.
The SPH further revealed:
"It is on this very day, Paramashiva became many and made Himself available to many."
"It is a very powerful understanding which is celebrated in this day. In the morning they light one light in front of the main energy center in each city. From it, many lamps will be lit for each deity. In the evening all lamps will be merged into the main lamp. This is a very powerful understanding. One becoming many and again, many merging into one."
