Vicki Elaine Whitworth Memorial Scholarship Goes to Alexander Moore

    HADDONFIELD, NJ, December 10, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- What makes a good, effective nurse? This is the question posed to applicants of the Vicki Elaine Whitworth Memorial Scholarship. The $1,250 award goes to Alexander Moore this year. A student at the University of Arizona, Moore drew inspiration for his winning essay from the life of his paternal grandmother.

"My paternal grandmother was a nurse for much of her life and always shared stories of the
patients who she cared for and the stories that they told," Moore writes. Drawing from his grandmother's stories, Moore writes that an effective nurse needs to be flexible, able to work with people from all walks of life, and well-trained.

"Part of being a good nurse," he writes, "is having the open-minded awareness of [peoples'] identities and not allowing personal belief to cloud treatment quality."

Moore is pursuing a master's degree at the University of Arizona. A lifelong student of the violin, he writes that classical music will always be a part of him.
