"Christmas Without You" is right up there with 'Blue Christmas' in terms of holiday tunes," said Clayton Edwards of Outsider Media News. "And Luanne Hunt performs the song beautifully."
ORLANDO, FL, December 10, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sixty-one years after legendary country singer Patsy Cline skyrocketed into superstardom, the holiday single she commissioned but never got to record, "Christmas Without You," has been re-released on Luanne Hunt's new holiday hits album, "Christmas with Luanne Hunt."
The soul-stirring tune, also known as "Patsy Cline's Lost Christmas Song," was recorded by Hunt and first released in 2011. Hunt said that every year since, it has garnered a tremendous amount of accolades from newspapers, magazines, radio promoters, music critics and fans around the globe.
"I felt it was important to include 'Patsy's Lost Christmas Song' on this project, as it has definitely been my biggest single to date," said Hunt. "And truthfully, it is the song I am most known for, so the album wouldn't have been the same without it."
"Christmas Without You" was written by the late songwriting team of Lawton Jiles and Charles (Buster) Beam in the early 1960s on the request of Cline. According to Jiles, Cline never had the opportunity to record it the way it was originally intended and was heartbroken she was unable to give her fans a signature Christmas song.
"Buster and I wrote the song for Patsy and she loved it," said Jiles, who also has written songs for Hunt, Porter Wagoner and Janie Fricke. "She took it to her label and they weren't really looking for a Christmas song, so they asked me and Buster to change the lyrics to something non-seasonal. It became 'How Can I Face Tomorrow?,' which wound up not doing very well on the charts. Patsy was very upset, to say the least."
Among the achievements "Christmas Without You" has earned throughout the years was landing on Dagens Nyheter's (Sweden's largest daily newspaper) list of Top 25 Christmas Songs of All-Time. The tune also has been prominently featured on popular blogs, and in magazines, such as Universal Music's, UDiscover Music, Country Rebel, Country Music Nation, AutoStraddle and Truckers News, to name a few.
In 2011, "Christmas Without You" was the second most played song on European country radio, according to the former European Country Music Association's radio chart. To date, the song has racked up over half a million Youtube views and counting.
"Christmas Without You" is right up there with 'Blue Christmas' in terms of holiday tunes," said Clayton Edwards of Outsider Media News. "Imagine if the label would have let Patsy record the original version of the song, there's almost no way it wouldn't have been a hit. As it stands, Luanne Hunt performs the song beautifully."
Along with "Christmas Without You," "Christmas with Luanne Hunt" features seven additional tracks that have topped independent charts around the world.
