"Koops is pursuing a degree in journalism to supplement her passion for storytelling and launch a career studying and sharing the stories of real people."
ATLANTA, GA, December 15, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Lauren Koops was a bright high school senior, an International Scholastic Silver Medalist, just days away from her high school graduation when she was struck by a car while crossing the street. Her injuries, including a traumatic brain injury (TBI), forced her to miss her graduation, have her acceptance into the University of Texas at Austin revoked, and led to five serious surgeries.
Today, after going through intense physical recovery, Koops has a bright future ahead of her. Reinstated to UT Austin, Koops is pursuing a degree in journalism to supplement her passion for storytelling and launch a career studying and sharing the stories of real people. "I believe that God writes better stories than I could ever dream of," she said in an interview with representatives of the Bader Scott Injury Lawyers.
Koops has already started down her path of storytelling, penning a brilliant essay that won her the Bader Scott Survivor of a Car Accident Scholarship. In her winning essay, she writes that her initial hopelessness in the post-accident days has now turned into positivity.
"I have photos all over my room of the girl I was preceding my accident, but I don't look
at them in longing or in pain," she writes. "I now see them through a lens of surreal wonder toward my growth. It feels as though I'm looking at baby pictures."
With the $2,500 scholarship award in hand, the attorneys at Bader Scott Injury Lawyers are sure that Lauren Koops' personal growth will continue into the future. They are proud to award her the scholarship on her journey to discovering and telling important stories as a journalist.
