Gritty Horror Movie "Amber Road" Hopes to Kickstart and Launch The First Horror Film Franchise Through Crowdfunding!

    LOS ANGELES, CA, December 24, 2021 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A group of award-winning independent filmmakers is looking to branch out and create the first crowdfunded film franchise with their "Amber Road" campaign.

In 2011, the nefarious world of the dark web came crashing into the public eye when the Silk Road was exposed – a $1 billion marketplace with 100,000 users dealing black market goods and services. "Amber Road" tells the tale of this criminal element finding a new path as well as the story of those who endeavor to stop them.

This indie film has already landed recognizable actors, including Tom Sizemore ("Saving Private Ryan"), Robert LaSardo ("The Mule"), Vernon Wells ("Commando"), William McNamara ("Copycat"), and Elissa Dowling ("The Girl on the Third Floor").

Production company Koa Aloha Media has had a successful few years in the world of independent film, helming crowdfunded campaigns which have produced widely distributed movies while also finding success on the festival and awards circuit.

Writer/director B. Barsuglia has a track record of success when it comes to crowdfunding and distributing his movies. All these movies have budgets under $100,000 but aim to look much larger in cast and production value. He has even worked with Oscar winning screen legends Mickey Rooney and Margaret O'Brien on his film "Jekyll and Hyde," which won 17 awards. His 2020 film, "Impact Event," enlisted the acting prowess of Michael Berryman ("The Hills Have Eyes") and Richard Grieco ("21 Jump Street"). Both movies found widespread VOD distribution and even landed physical copies in retail outlets such as Walmart.

The new year promises much more from Barsuglia and Koa Aloha Media, with four movies already slated for release, including the critically acclaimed "The Electric Man" (with Eric Roberts, Tom Sizemore, and Vernon Wells), which will arrive in early 2022.

However, with "Amber Road," the team at Koa Aloha Media is hoping to turn this into a multi-film franchise. The movie is described as a horror thriller, mixing elements of "Saw" and "Revenge" with an Agatha Christie mystery.
