"Congressman Horsford's affair is not just a family issue. It also brings to question Steven's integrity and is a deep violation of the public trust,"
LAS VEGAS, NV, March 24, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today Major Sam Peters, United States Air Force veteran, Bronze Star recipient, and Republican candidate for Congress in Nevada's 4th District, called on Democratic Congressman Steven Horsford to heed his wife's request and retire from Congress.
Horsford, whose affair with a former Harry Reid staffer was exposed in 2020, has chosen against his family's wishes to subject them to endure yet another season of remembering his indiscretions. In 2020, Horsford's mistress, known as "Love Jones" on social media, came forward and explained she and Horsford were involved in an extended extramarital affair. His mistress further stated that Horsford offered her financial support, introduced her to political connections, and filmed a video segment for her young son's YouTube show using his congressional staff. Horsford acknowledged the affair ahead of the 2020 election and confirmed that it had spanned at least ten years.
"My heart goes out to Dr. Douglass and her children," said Sam Peters. "I wholeheartedly agree with her in this instance and urge Steven to finally put his family first and forego re-election.
"Congressman Horsford's affair is not just a family issue. It also brings to question Steven's integrity and is a deep violation of the public trust," said Peters. "Public service is a sacred trust and something I take very seriously. While I served in the United States Air Force, we learned and lived by the core values of integrity, service, and excellence. When I am in Congress, I will uphold the integrity of the office and represent the constituents of Nevada with these same values. It is clear Horsford cannot and will not, and as such he should resign."
