Lombardi: Suspend Federal Gas Tax, Restart Keystone XL Pipeline And Reinstate Oil Leases

    MANHATTAN, IL, May 20, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today, Jack Lombardi, Republican Congressional candidate for Illinois' 14th Congressional District called for a suspension of the federal gas tax of 18.4 cents per gallon as consumers in the 14th District and throughout America are faced with record gas prices. Lombardi renewed his call to restart the Keystone XL Pipeline and noted that he is the first candidate in the race who called for this. He also called for the oil leases that Biden Administration cancelled to be reinstated. Doing these three things would bring immediate relief to Americans at the gas pumps. Lombardi noted that throughout the nation, gas is now over $4 per gallon in every state with the prices continuing to rise. Unless we bring relief at the gas pump, gas prices along with the Biden inflation will lead to a depression not just a recession. The blame for these crippling gas prices falls on Joe Biden and Lauren Underwood who have enacted policies that stop domestic oil production in the pursuit of their 'New Green Deal'. Joe Biden and Lauren Underwood are so scared of the extreme left of the Democratic Party that they would have the American consumer suffer. That is unacceptable Lombardi said. This gas crisis is Joe Biden's gas crisis not Putin's gas crisis as Biden and Underwood try to claim. It is about tie that both Underwood and Biden accept responsibility for the suffering that their policies have caused the American people.

"Americans need immediate relief at the gas pump and that is why I am calling for a suspension of the federal gas tax throughout 2022, and restarting the Keystone XL Pipeline" said Jack Lombardi. "There is no reason that the American consumer should suffer because of Joe Biden's failed policies.

"Harry Truman said that the buck stopped with him," continued Lombardi. "Joe Biden and Lauren Underwood believe the buck stops with anyone but them. They blame, Putin, Donald Trump, oil producers, and even Americans for driving too much but will do nothing to solve the crisis. That is not leadership. We need action now not later as our economy teeters.

"First suspend the federal gas tax through the end of the year. Second restart the Keystone XL Pipeline. Third unleash American energy producers by reinstating the oil leases cancelled by this Administration," concluded Lombardi.
