Rare Piece of Vancouver's History Goes Up for Auction

    VANCOUVER, BC, May 27, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A rare table made from the collapsed wood and iron of the historic Iron Workers Memorial Bridge is being auctioned off on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at 10 AM along with iconic First Nations artwork created by Carl Joseph, famous Squamish nations artist, Wayne Bell, Hereditary Chief and renowned Vancouver artist from the Mamalilikulla Nation, Sikaasika Nation artwork and more.

This rare table was created by an unknown craftsman who lovingly built the table from twisted iron and wood pieces retrieved from the fatal collapse of the bridge during its construction on June 17, 1958. 19 in total perished as a result of the disaster.

The table was then purchased by a North Vancouver business and was used in their boardroom for over 20 years. Upon moving, the company sold the table to Jeff Schwarz, A.K.A., "The Liquidator" and is now going up for auction. "I'm hoping this table will go to a home that honours its significance for those that sacrificed during the tragic collapse of the bridge so our communities could benefit from the magnificent crossing. This table is a sombre reminder of the workers' commitment to their craft," says Schwarz.

This beautiful table is 132 inches in length, 46 inches in width and 30 inches in height. Made of 2 large slabs of wood and welded steel base, this iconic piece is perfect for any boardroom, restaurant, art gallery or large dining room.

This auction also features stunning indigenous art pieces, framed canvass paintings, carvings, rare toy collections and brand-new watches from high-end brands like Baume and Mercier, Frederique Constant, Ulysse Nardin, Tudor, Breitling and Tag Heuer.
