LOS ANGELES, CA, June 01, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Jung Woo-jin, CEO of NHN, said on a conference call shortly after the announcement of first-quarter earnings on the 10th, "Mobile game sales rose 4% compared to the previous quarter to 65.9 billion won thanks to solid growth in online board games."
He explained that mobile online board games have achieved the highest sales since the service was launched thanks to the influence of new content such as "Poker Club" and "Original Go Stop Regional Competition". Online board games are games played online such as Go, poker, and Go-Stop.
NHN also announced its global marketing plans for Guns Up! Mobile, which was released last month. CEO Jung said, "While it is still in its early stages, there are confirmed signs that the game is being well-received by users in major countries such as the United States and South Korea."
He added, "We will gradually expand marketing by closely keeping tabs on global issues to attract users." Also, the name of a looter shooter game under development was released on the same day. A looter shooter game combines a shooting game with an action role-playing game (RPG). "The looter shooter project, 'Now,' has been given its official service name as 'Darkest of Days,'" he said.
NHN also expressed expectations for the proposal of some amendments to the Enforcement Decree of the Game Industry Promotion Act. CEO Jung predicted that the revision would help boost the competitiveness of the online board game business.
"We have implemented branding marketing to solidify our competitive advantage (if the amendment is passed)," he added, "that way, many users will be able to enjoy online board games in a stable manner."
According to the gaming industry, the revision includes an increase in the monthly purchase limit of gaming money for online board games. If the amendment is passed, the purchase limit will be raised from 500,000 won to 700,000 won. Online board gaming money rose once from 300,000 won to 500,000 won in 2009.
