A New York City native, Flach has earned a PhD. He spent his early photographic years studying with Ansel Adams in Yosemite, California and more recently under the tutelage of Mary Ellen Mark in Oaxaca, Mexico. He has produced several short films that have screened at international film festivals and on Punblic television. "Madeleine Castaing" is his first documentary project. His work can be seen at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA) art auction, along with such artists as, Diane Arbus, Eugène Atget, Joseph Cornell, Imogen Cunningham, on May 14, 2008.
