"...[CSS] empowers organizations to help stop malware and it deepens our overall relationship to provide our mutual customers with the best security solutions for storage in the cloud"...
SANDY, UT, July 26, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Today, data security software provider Cloud Storage Security (CSS) has announced that it achieved Amazon Web Services (AWS) Security Competency status. This is in addition to CSS' status as an AWS Public Sector Partner and AWS Marketplace seller. Additionally, the company announced the launch of its data classification solution.
AWS Security Competency
The AWS Security Competency designation recognizes that CSS' anti-malware solution, Antivirus for Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3), along with the company's expertise in data protection, helps organizations of all sizes across the world achieve their data security and compliance-related goals.
Achieving the AWS Security Competency differentiates CSS as an AWS Partner Network (APN) member that provides specialized security tooling to help organizations ensure data integrity as they adopt, develop and deploy projects on AWS. To receive the designation, CSS had to demonstrate the highest level of specialization, deep AWS technical expertise, and proven customer success.
CSS customer Jim Ballowe, CIO of Esquire Deposition Solutions, acknowledges these traits. He notes, "Attorneys rely on Esquire's court reporting services to create a true and accurate record of legal testimony, which contains private client information, so data security is our top priority. Antivirus for Amazon S3 helps us ensure that the data is clean for consumption without affecting our customers' ability to upload and download information in a timely fashion. Cloud Storage Security's Amazon S3 proficiency and ability to work with us on Esquire's unique use case makes it possible for us to assure our clients' data is properly secured. We commend CSS on achieving the AWS Security Competency – it is testament to their security acumen and commitment to customer success in today's increasingly challenging threat landscape."
AWS established the AWS Competency Program to help customers identify Partners with deep industry experience and expertise. CSS is one of eight organizations that have achieved Security Competency in the Data Protection category.
"We are pleased to achieve AWS Security Competency status and be recognized by AWS for providing a data protection solution that helps customers ensure security in the cloud," said Ed Casmer, CTO and Co-Founder of CSS. "As organizations ingest data from third-party sources and share it with users as part of their cloud-native application and data lake workflows, they could potentially be opening the door to objects infected with ransomware and viruses. To minimize this risk, they should directly scan all objects in their buckets for malicious payloads. We are proud to provide businesses using or migrating to AWS with an anti-malware tool that has been rigorously examined and technically validated by AWS."
Data Classification for Amazon S3: Know What Sensitive Data Exists and Where
With Data Classification for Amazon S3, organizations can easily and proactively manage data protection and compliance across all of their AWS accounts and Amazon S3 buckets. This is a critical capability for businesses that store sensitive data and that must comply with laws such as GDPR and HIPAA.
This cloud-based solution leverages the power of Sophos to identify sensitive data at petabyte scale and provides simplified reporting that shows the type of data each file contains as well as the bucket in which it resides. Additionally, security attributes such as whether a bucket is publicly accessible or if the data is encrypted are provided. This is crucial because these data points can be used in assessing data risk and prioritizing vulnerability management. For example, with this information, an organization can determine whether a bucket containing sensitive data is exposed and take action to prevent a data breach.
Data Classification for Amazon S3 is designed to scale automatically to efficiently scan even the largest of datasets - with no file size limit. To further support security and performance, the software runs in tenant - it is not Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) - meaning data never leaves an organization's AWS account.
"Data classification is a critical first step in protecting data stored in the cloud. By identifying and labeling data, organizations can better understand and manage their security risks," said Aaron Newman, Board of Directors Chair and Co-Founder of CSS. "Cloud Storage Security's Data Classification for Amazon S3 makes it easy to get started with data classification, and we're excited to offer this valuable service to our customers."
"With this latest development Cloud Storage Security empowers organizations to help stop malware and it deepens our overall relationship to provide our mutual customers with the best security solutions for storage in the cloud," said Dudi Matot, Security Segment Lead at AWS.
Available within the same console as Antivirus for Amazon S3, Data Classification for Amazon S3 can be used on its own or in conjunction with the malware scanning tool.
Easily find, buy, deploy, and manage Antivirus for Amazon S3 and Data Classification for Amazon S3 by CSS in a matter of minutes in AWS Marketplace.
