"Lily is an example of what it is to be a "queen of growth and community." We know she will continue to touch lives at Georgia Tech and elsewhere and put others' needs above all else."
ATLANTA, GA, August 25, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Kaine Law is pleased to announce that Lily Wallace is the winner of the 2022 Growing Your Community Scholarship. The award recognizes high school, undergraduate, and graduate students who have served others and improved their communities.
Lilly Wallace, a recent graduate of North Hall High School, has been a prime example of commitment and giving back. Her community service started at a young age. She has been dancing for the Gainesville School of Ballet and Gainesville Ballet Company since she was three.
On top of performing, she has taken part in the service projects that the dance studios have participated in. For example, she taught dance classes at the Boys & Girls Club and led and organized a mini-camp for young children. Not only was she one of the main teachers, but she also created visuals and decorations for the recitals and even worked as a "make-up artist" over the years.
Lily continued to offer a helping hand when she started high school, whether that was volunteering at her church or organizing a power/wheelchair soccer tournament at her local community center.
However, Lily holds one project in particular close to her heart. In her freshman year, Lily became involved with a local organization, Straight Street Ministries. She participated in several service projects with it. One of the first was painting a fence around one of the organization's properties, which was a safe haven for women who were victims of the sex trafficking industry. Lily also led a Straight Street Ministries project at her school called "Birthday Love" and collected birthday gifts for children whose families couldn't afford to buy them presents.
Lily is also a star student, getting straight A's throughout all of high school. She has put forth the effort to share her knowledge and dedication to her education by being very active in helping her fellow students. She assists students with their homework and peer reviews their writing assignments. You could also find her tutoring at the Ivester Early College math lab.
Still, with tutoring, volunteering, and school, Lilly makes time to be as involved with her school as possible. She was the president of Key Club and a member of Chick-fil-A Leader Academy, Interact, the National Honors Society, and BETA. Of course, she worked on several service projects within these clubs—helping with Trick or Treat with UNICEF and putting together meal packages for a local food bank.
Lily's dedication and academic record got her accepted into the Georgia Institute of Technology. Once she completes her undergraduate degree, she plans to go to dental school to fulfill her dream of becoming an orthodontist. Until then, she's going to take time to relax over the summer and hit the beach with friends and family.
After reading all about Lily's passion for her community, one would have to wonder where she gets her inspiration from. Well, according to Lily, it's her grandmother. She says, "My grandmother, my Nana, has been an incredible example of growth, community, and growing her community my entire life."
Her grandmother used to host yard sales and chat with people of all walks of life, truly getting to know all of them. She would never hesitate to offer her piano-playing skills at Sunday church services, cook and deliver food to families who were struggling financially, and donate her handmade crochets to local charities.
Just as her grandmother is to her, Lily is an example of what it is to be a "queen of growth and community." We know she will continue to touch lives at Georgia Tech and elsewhere and put others' needs above all else.
From all of us at Kaine Law, congratulations on winning the 2022 Growing Your Community Scholarship, Lily! Best of luck in all your future endeavors.
