PARIS, FRANCE, September 03, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- September 8-12, MoTIE (The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy) and KIDP will showcase DESIGN KOREA 2022 at the Maison&Objet Paris fair, to promote the annual design expos and bolster the reach of Korean design businesses abroad.

Maison&Objet is Europe's biggest interior fair - a trade show participated by design products from all around the world. At the 2021 event in March, 1,811 brands from 54 countries participated, and the fair was visited by 51,656 individuals from 136 countries. Buyers participate in large numbers from around the world to capture design trends and formulate future business plans, making it one of the most attractive venues to market Korean design businesses.

For the first time, KIDP is set to exhibit at the Maison&Objet. Design products from 33 outstanding Korean design businesses will be on display at the Home Accessories section, 'KIDP' (Hall 4-D75). The DESIGN KOREA pavilion occupies a 250㎡ floorspace and was designed to bring together the many points of design businesses to paint the broad face of Korean national identity in design.

Represented design businesses were selected by KIDP among SMEs engaged with KIDP for an overseas expansion project. Final decisions were made through screening and reviews. Notable businesses represented include:

1) Rhetoric presents a lunch box designed with modular functionality and minimalistic aesthetics in the form of a traditional Korean lunch box called a 'Chan Hap', and wrapping fabric inspired by Korean traditional Jogakbo. Rhetoric designs are made from eco-conscious materials (corn PLA-based bioplastic, recycled polyester fiber, etc.)

2) KIMUSTUDIO presents artworks created in collaboration with designers who live with developmental disabilities. The studio presents both their artworks and related products.

3) SPACE TAILOR proposes a new easy-adhesion and easy-off sticker-type wallpaper that allows for unique interior elements.

4) sorosi offers an elevated tea-drinking and flower-potting experience, drawing from the design inspirations of Korea's last Joseon Dynasty.

KIDP plans to support participating design businesses find new buyers and markets abroad through collaboration with the Korea International Trade Association (KITA). KITA will be at the Paris fair to coordinate promising buyers and distributors to the DESIGN KOREA floor to introduce and network with the Korean design businesses participating at the fair. KIDP supports participating businesses by providing: exhibition space rent, booth design and production cost, round-trip transportation costs for exhibited products, and publicity costs in and out of Korea.

SPACE TAILOR's Director Park Sungho shared, "France has a highly developed market for interior design and decorative wallpaper, so this will be an opportunity to engage great customers." For sorosi Founder/Designer Kim Sunyoung, "Interest in Korean culture has never been higher, so I'm pleased to present products inspired by traditional porcelain and hangul design."

KIDP President Yoon Sang Heum was pleased to note, "International venues are gradually opening after the pandemic, and there is a rebounding need for our businesses to reach expos and exhibitions on foreign shores. KIDP will do its best to help support this need across Korea's design industry."
