Reviewers have called the book a "Must read for City Officials," and "A Master Class in keeping small cities flourishing."
FORT WORTH, TX, September 16, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- With praise from business and community leaders and a host of five star customer reviews. Keeping the Lights on Downtown in America's Small Cities is considered a must read for city officials and anybody looking to improve inner cities.
Co-author Ron Sturgeon is a lifelong entrepreneur who became deeply troubled seeing the continued decline in certain inner-city areas of his hometown of Haltom City, Texas. In 2020, he founded the Haltom United Business Alliance (HUBA), a grassroots organization that works to represent existing business owners and advocates for much-needed change. According to Ron, Keeping the Lights On was written for his hometown and for other cities across the country in order to "help residents, business owners, city planners and managers, and civic leaders see the problems and the opportunities in a new light."
Released in the spring of 2022, the book has garnered positive reviews from community and business leaders alike. According to Tarrant County District Clerk Tom Wilder, "The authors present what all cities must grasp, that the business community and attraction of new businesses have to be a top priority to revitalizing their aging areas." Adds business executive Wade Leinaar, "Ron has laid out a framework/structure for cities to be a success from the view of a successful entrepreneur. Carefully reading will show ways city government can best serve the community they represent."
Keeping the Lights On stresses the importance of city leadership in the success or failure of revitalization efforts. Reviewers have called the book a "Must read for City Officials," and "A Master Class in keeping small cities flourishing." Says Jack Byno, Haltom City Municipal Court Judge (1999-2003), "The authors have many years of valuable experience to share. The book is more than informative; it contains important lessons that can help our neighborhoods, towns and cities prosper." Adds entrepreneur Matt Hayes, "This book should be a must read for everyone fighting for the life of their city. It reinforces my view with some concrete examples of why we need more business people and fewer do-gooders and attorneys in charge!"
