'The sensors of this new series enable users to get started with turbidity measurement technology easily and economically.'
AUBURN, CA, September 28, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- South Fork Instruments, an established supplier of measurement instrumentation, analyzers, and control products, today announced a significant addition to its turbidity sensor solutions.
The new EXplore range of entry-level turbidity sensors for general process monitoring provides an economical entry into turbidity measurement technology. Released by South Fork's partner Exner, a Germany-based developer and manufacturer of process equipment, EXplore leverages proven technology to produce a robust, compact product with a focus on essentials and basic, repeatable functionality. In line with Exner's philosophy of "install, connect, done," EXplore turbidity sensors are pre-calibrated and require no configuration or setup.
"The advantage of the EXplore sensor is its high level of accuracy, that combined with a fast response, allows changes in the measured turbidity of fluid to be recorded in real-time," said John Daly, Technical Director of South Fork Instruments. "The sensors of this new series enable users to get started with turbidity measurement technology easily and economically."
Two measurement techniques are offered in the range: absorbance and backscattered light. The availability of both techniques allows for applications from light to heavy turbidity to be measured. Users simply have to choose the technique — absorbance from 0 up to about 4000 NTU and backscatter from 250 NTU upwards.
Commented Daly, "Depending on the prevailing media turbidity, the only choice is between a measurement based upon absorbance of transmitted light or backscattered light principle. Solid matter references are also available as optional accessories for fast, repeatable and solution-free checking of the sensors in the plant."
Primarily designed for the food and beverage industry, the EXplore series is equally applicable to other industries too. A typical use is the monitoring of phase separations and product change in the dairy industry. Here, the EXplore 131 (absorbance probe) will accurately and repeatably measure milk/water mixtures up to about 10%, while the EXplore 171 (backscatter) will reliably monitor mixture 0 – 100%. Other examples include filtration monitoring, color-independent concentration measurement and loss prevention. Sensors have a 4-20mA interface as standard and are CIP/SIP-capable.
