LONDON, ENGLAND, October 15, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Vintage retailer and wholesalerBlue17 organized a fashion event where 1950s women's fashion and 50's men's styles took centre stage at a recent pop-up vintage marketplace event, held in the heart of the city. Visitors, guests, and passers-by agreed that The Fabulous Fifties Fashion Fun pop-up show was a tremendous success.
Commenting on the event, organizer John Scott said:
"We wanted to celebrate the fifties as a fun, innocent, vibrant era, and now was the perfect time to do so. All our items are specially curated to provide an original 50's vibe."
There were gorgeous authentic heritage outfits, from casual to dressy for men, women and kids to browse through and score some fabulous finds. From day dresses in pretty floral prints or bright polka dots, to elegant evening wear in heavy taffeta or satin, the iconic 1950s fit-and-flare silhouette was everywhere.
Vintage lovers enjoyed themselves sifting through all the variations of this look which is as flattering today as it was when it burst onto the fashion scene back in the day.
A Blue17 associate noted that the selection included:
"1950s accessories to complement each ensemble, including tiny pillbox hats with fine mesh trimmings, short white gloves, structured handbags and kitten heeled slingbacks were all on display. The perfect Fifties accessories for finishing that fit-and-flare look from top to toe!"
Men's accessories were just as plentiful, with a wide variety of felt fedoras and other sharp-looking hats, to discreetly patterned pocket handkerchiefs and dark ties to add polish to the suited look. And there was heritage outerwear galore! Vintage 50's women fashion and luxurious woollen cropped swing jackets in vintage houndstooth fabrications, trimmed with faux fur collar and cuffs called out to the avid shoppers.
These quintessential 1950s styles are timelessly stylish and go with everything, so it was no wonder they sold out early.
Men's classic trench coats in essential beige and black were also hugely popular with the crowd, who avidly snapped up these pieces to add panache to their wardrobes.
A wealth of 50's evening wear was on display too. Ladies sheath dresses that hit right at the knee and were nipped in at the waist with broad self-fabric belts echoed the top evening looks of the 1950s. These lovely evening dresses were finished with matching long swing coats in the same fabric, with wide collars and elbow-length sleeves.
Like the discerning 1950s men's fashion collections, every 50's women's look was complimented with curated long gloves, stiletto pumps and fashionable hats so shoppers had full outfits at their fingertips. The pop-up marketplace sold out early with many tired but very happy shoppers gloating over their found treasures as they headed home, looking forward to the next time the show is in town.
