Bader Scott Announces Winner of Survivor of a Car Accident Scholarship

    ATLANTA, GA, November 03, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Bader Scott Injury Lawyers awards an annual Survivor of a Car Accident Scholarship to college students. This year's winner, Emani Miles, is a Rutgers Law School student who was hit by a car on her walk to the train station from class.

Miles takes pride in every aspect of her law school experience. She notes that her family made numerous sacrifices for her to attend law school. Her walk to the train station from class was usually spent as a few moments of reflection after a day of challenging schoolwork. On April 20, 2022, Miles' experience was impacted by the injuries she faced after being struck by a car.

After the accident, Miles was placed in the hospital's hallway for several hours before being diagnosed with leg, back, and neck injuries. The severity of her injuries caused her to lose her ability to walk for several months. This left her unable to financially support herself and her family.

Despite her injuries, Miles persisted in her studies. She completed her second year of law school with the support of her family. The Survivor of a Car Accident Scholarship attracted her because she wanted her story to remind others of the dangers of distracted driving. Miles says, "This scholarship will transform my life and my family's life as I recover from what this accident has taken from me." She refuses to allow the accident to define her law school career.

Miles is a hard-working student. In addition to her coursework, she is involved in on-campus organizations like the Association of Black Law Students and the National Lawyers Guild. She also dedicates her time to her legal internship at the People's Law Office. Miles is passionate about public interest law, focusing her studies on systemic racism, family law systems, gender identity, and sexuality.

Miles hopes to work as a civil rights lawyer upon graduation. Her goal is to represent wrongfully convicted prisoners and political prisoners. She also strives to teach Black history later in her career.

As a scholarship recipient, Miles feels relief from her financial stress. The $2,500 award will allow her to take a break from her part-time job to focus on her recovery and studies.

With the financial support of the Survivor of a Car Accident Scholarship, Miles knows she can overcome the challenges her accident presented. Miles says, "…I believed in my ability to work through extreme adversity because I had done so my entire life." Her strength through adversity makes her a well-deserving scholarship recipient.
