ATLANTA, GA, November 18, 2022 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Atlanta Community Food Bank (Food Bank) recently received a $350,000 donation from Publix Super Markets Charities to improve accessibility to nutritious food for struggling neighbors. In addition to supporting the Food Bank's Community Food Center, the donation also will support the purchase of a mobile food pantry truck to improve food accessibility in communities most in need.
"We are incredibly grateful for our long-standing partnership with Publix Super Markets. Publix supports our efforts to fight hunger year-round through financial and food donations, giving hope to people across our 29-county service area who are facing hunger and food insecurity," said Kyle Waide, President and CEO of Atlanta Community Food Bank. "Access to nutritious food is a significant challenge for many families struggling with food insecurity. Our mobile pantry program allows us to get more food closer to the communities with the greatest need. Publix' donation of a mobile pantry truck will increase our capacity to reach deeper into communities in need."
One in eight Georgians and one in seven children are food insecure, and Publix Charities' donations continue to help the Food Bank combat these challenges in our communities. "So many of our neighbors struggle with accessing nutritious food, but with this donation to purchase a mobile food pantry, we hope to change that," said Publix CEO Todd Jones. "We are proud to continue our commitment of providing hope through nourishment for people in our communities."
The donation from Publix Super Markets Charities to Atlanta Community Food Bank is one of several donations made this year to help provide food and other essential support to those facing food insecurity.
About Atlanta Food Community Bank
The Atlanta Community Food Bank works to end hunger with the food, people and big ideas needed to ensure our neighbors have the nourishment to lead healthy and productive lives. Far too many people in our own community experience hunger every day, including children, seniors and working families. Through more than 700 nonprofit partners, we help more than 600,000 people get healthy food every year. Our goal is that all hungry people across metro Atlanta and North Georgia will have access to the nutritious meals they need when they need them. It takes the power of our whole community to make that possible. Join us at ACFB.org.
